They don't hear us, the living, though we have so much to tell, centuries gone before our eyes that we need to share. Words of wisdom that will never be heard, warnings never to be heeded.. what they could learn if they would only listen.
I cannot move, I cannot speak. But you, my children of the skies, free spirits, so silent as you go even though you have so much to tell; you guide my messages to them and return so faithfully, carry the words on your wings over this divide that mutes me and deafens them. You are my wings, my voice and ears..
A part of me.
Concept art for Hazel and her owlbbus
To explain their relationship and roles:
Hazel herself is not a shapeshifter, nor does she have a physical form; however each of the owls carries a small part of her spirit, and because of this they can take her previous form to deliver messages from her, though they still bear the wings, talons and feathers of their true forms. As this form is physical, it can be seen by anyone, and deliver or take a message from any person. However, it isn't possible to hold a conversation with Hazel through the messengers; they are literally like a delivery system, and can only speak the messages that Hazel has given them. They can however take a message back to her, though it will take time for any reply to return.
They are individuals with their own thoughts and personalities though, and once their message is delivered they're free to interact how they want. Most of the time they ask for a small reward of bread or seeds, and if they don't get it they'll gather their siblings and harrass the poor human until they get what they want.
They're also prone to fortelling deaths, and hearing one hoot is a sign that someone close is likely to die soon. Hence why Jay doesn't like them being around, and does his best to get rid of them whenever they gather, as they like to call around him.
One can talk to Hazel herself if they're open to the spiritual realm, though it's best to avoid her as she has the typical ghost tendency of haunting and trying to get people to kill themselves to join her in the afterlife. She's not malicious in any way, just lonely.
So to summerise, this isn't Hazel herself, rather one of her owlbbies taking her form to deliver a message to someone I hope that made sense please tell me if it didn't
It's all confusing idek /shot
This was what I've been drawing in the livestreams over the past few days and well... I'm fairly pleased with the result. Not reflective of the time I put into it at all, but then again my speedpaints usually turn out better than anything I actually put effort into fml
Hazel and the owls are painted entirely on one layer
why do I do these things whyyyyyyyy
Anyway this is like the second time I've done feathered wings and I can't say I really enjoyed painting them.. I know the markings aren't true to a real Great Horned Owl but I figure since these are Hazel's owls they could have a little more gold than usual
I'm never drawing feathers againHazel Iera, Venom, concept and art (c)
